Exam Content — PMP Exam Content Outline 2026

The PMP exam covers 3 domains, with questions across predictive, agile/adaptive and hybrid environments.

According to the official Exam Content Outline 2026, approximately 40% of questions relate to predictive approaches and the remaining 60% to adaptive/agile and hybrid. These approaches appear across all 3 domains.

Domain I: People — 33%

Leadership, collaboration, stakeholders, knowledge and communication.

  • Task 1 – Develop a common vision: ensuring a shared vision with key stakeholders, promoting and continuously updating it.
  • Task 2 – Manage conflicts: identifying sources of conflict, analysing context, applying an agreed resolution strategy and managing ground rules.
  • Task 3 – Lead the project team: setting expectations, empowering the team, resolving issues, applying an appropriate leadership style and defining clear roles.
  • Task 4 – Engage stakeholders: identifying and analysing stakeholders, adapting communication, executing the stakeholder engagement plan and building trust.
  • Task 5 – Align stakeholder expectations: categorising stakeholders, identifying expectations and aligning them through discussion and mentoring.
  • Task 6 – Manage stakeholder expectations: managing internal and external customer expectations and monitoring satisfaction.
  • Task 7 – Help ensure knowledge transfer: identifying critical knowledge, collecting it and creating a knowledge transfer environment.
  • Task 8 – Plan and manage communication: communication strategy, transparency, collaboration, feedback loops, reporting and governance support.

Domain II: Process — 41%

Integrated planning and control of delivery, scope, value, resources, procurement, finance, quality, schedule, status and closure.

  • Task 1 – Develop an integrated project management plan and plan delivery: assessing needs/complexity, choosing an approach, execution strategy and maintaining the integrated plan.
  • Task 2 – Develop and manage project scope: defining scope, achieving stakeholder agreement and breaking down the scope.
  • Task 3 – Help ensure value-based delivery: identifying value components, prioritisation, incremental delivery and benefit tracking.
  • Task 4 – Plan and manage resources: defining, planning, managing and optimising resources.
  • Task 5 – Plan and manage procurement: procurement plan, contract types, vendor evaluation, negotiations and supplier/contract management.
  • Task 6 – Plan and manage finance: financial requirements, contingencies, spend tracking, financial reporting and reserves.
  • Task 7 – Plan and optimize quality of products/deliverables: quality requirements, quality processes, compliance, cost of quality, sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Task 8 – Plan and manage schedule: schedule preparation, estimates, benchmarks, baseline, execution and variance analysis.
  • Task 9 – Evaluate project status: metrics, artifacts, measuring progress, status communication and evaluating the effectiveness of artifact management.
  • Task 10 – Manage project closure: approval of completion, criteria, readiness for transition and closing all project/phase activities.

Domain III: Business Environment — 26%

Governance, compliance, changes, impediments/issues, risk, continuous improvement, organisational change and the external environment.

  • Task 1 – Define and establish project governance: structure, rules, processes, reporting, ethics, policies, success metrics and escalation paths.
  • Task 2 – Plan and manage project compliance: compliance requirements, categorisation, threats, support methods, consequences of non-compliance and measuring compliance.
  • Task 3 – Manage and control changes: executing change control, communicating change status, implementing approved changes and updating documentation.
  • Task 4 – Remove impediments and manage issues: assessing impact, prioritisation, intervention strategy and collaborating to resolve issues when risks materialise.
  • Task 5 – Plan and manage risk: identification, analysis, monitoring/control, risk register, risk responses and communicating impact.
  • Task 6 – Continuous improvement: leveraging lessons learned, updating continuous improvement processes and OPAs.
  • Task 7 – Support organisational change: assessing organisational culture and the impact of organisational changes on the project.
  • Task 8 – Evaluate external business environment changes: monitoring changes in regulations, technology, geopolitics and market, and assessing their impact on scope/backlog.

Prerequisites

Path A: Bachelor's degree (or higher) + at least 36 months (3 years) of project leadership experience within the last decade
Path B: Associate degree (or equivalent post-secondary) + at least 48 months (4 years) of project leadership experience
Path C: Secondary education (High School / equivalent) + at least 60 months (5 years) of project leadership experience
Education: 35 hours of project management training — fully provided by the seminar (36 contact hours)
Good command of English (exam in English only)

Note: Holders of an active CAPM® certification are exempt from the 35 contact hours training requirement. Also, graduates of PMI GAC-accredited programmes may count university-level project management hours towards the 35 hours. All experience must have been gained within the last 10 years.

How long is the PMP certification valid?

The PMP certification is valid for 3 years. Renewal requires 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units) within the three-year cycle.

What is the format of the PMP 2026 exam?

The PMP 2026 exam consists of 180 questions (170 scored + 10 pretest) over 240 minutes (4 hours), with 2 breaks of 10'. Question types: multiple choice, multiple response, drag-and-drop, matching and case study with scenarios.

Can I sit the exam in Greek?

No, the exam is available in English only.

What is the pass rate for participants?

PMI does not publish pass rates; however, participants in our seminars achieve a pass rate well above the average!

Is support provided after the seminar?

Yes, we provide ongoing support by email and phone until you pass the exam.

What is the exam fee?

The exam fee is $405 for PMI members and $655 for non-members. The annual PMI membership is $169.

Do I need the 35 contact hours if I hold CAPM?

Yes. If you hold an active CAPM® certification, the requirement for 35 contact hours of training is automatically waived.

Are there scheduled breaks in the PMP exam?

Yes. The exam includes 2 optional breaks of 10 minutes each. The first appears after completing the first 60 questions and the second after the next 60. The timer stops during breaks.

What project approaches does the PMP exam cover?
